This is the first time Windows 10 20H2 previews have been available outside the Insider Fast Ring. As this ISO is in the vNext development branch, it hasn’t been assigned as a specific update. However, this is build 19619 that was rolled out to the Fast Ring of the 20H2 branch last week. Windows 10 20H2 has been in preview over recent months, the ISO gets some tools that have already been released. For example, some Task Manager changes have been included. Other important changes are ARM support for Hyper-V and an improved tablet experience. However, it is unclear when these features will arrive at all. And that’s the mystery of this ISO… specifically, it may not be Windows 10 20H2. That’s because it is unclear what Microsoft has planned for its next Windows 10 major update.
Minor Update
Earlier this month, we reported on Microsoft apparently thinking about making Windows 10 20H2 a minor update. At the moment, this is only a rumor but and Microsoft has yet to say anything official. We do know the company has already experimented with a new update schedule. Microsoft announced last year a dramatic change to its update schedule. The company said it will reduce main feature updates to once a year. Microsoft quickly changed its mind after customers reacted negatively to the proposal. As we reported last month, Microsoft is also exploring the idea of individual feature updates for Windows 10.
