Under normal circumstances, the removal of a service arrives ahead of time. In this instance, Microsoft has culled the book store section of the Microsoft Store immediately. The company says the section is closed from today (April 2). It is worth noting the store was for digital eBooks. Microsoft says customers who paid for books will now receive automatic refunds and will not be able to access those titles after July 31: “Starting April 2, 2019, the books category in Microsoft Store will be closing. Unfortunately, this means that starting July 2019 your eBooks will no longer be available to read, but you’ll get a full refund for all book purchases.”
No Surprise
For example, the company never really set up an infrastructure for reading the books, apart from compatibility with Edge. Microsoft never developed and app for Android or iOS so users could not read their books on the move. One reason why the book store is closing now is because it will no longer integrate with Edge when the browser moves to a Chromium base.
