Users report Windows 10 KB4549951 update is throwing up error messages when it is installed. Interestingly, Microsoft has yet to confirm this problem and include it as a known issue. Even once the error messages are closed, KB4549951 is causing some serious problems. Among them are broken connectivity through WiFi and Bluetooth. More concerning for users are automatic blue screen of death (BSOD) shutdowns. Some users are also complaining about reduced PC performance. Of course, this means you should probably avoid installing KB4549951 until the problems are resolved. However, not installing the patch will also cause problems because the update includes a fix for an important security issue. That said, we still advise this updated be avoided or uninstalled if you have already downloaded it. If you have Windows 10 KB4549951 on your PC, you can remove it by following these steps:
Use the Windows+I key combination or head to the Settings app. Choose “Update & security”. Switch to the “Windows Update” menu. Choose “View update history”. Click “Uninstall updates”.
Patch Tuesday Woes
There has been an increasing issue where Microsoft patches are fixing one issue but causing others. We have seen this recently with a fix for Windows Search that has left users unable to boot their PCs. We’ll wait to see if Microsoft responds to this latest issue. If a fix is coming, it may not be introduced until May Patch Tuesday next month.
