Yes, this is the same search experience introduced on Chromium Edge at the start of this month. However, this was only available to select users through Controlled Feature releases. Now, the company is launching it to all preview users. Specifically, people running Chromium Edge on the Canary and Dev channels. If you’re unfamiliar, the Chromium Edge preview has three channels: Canary for unstable builds, Dev for more feature releases, and Beta for stable previews. In other words, by reaching Dev, ARM support still has to pass through Beta and then the full stable release. New Search Experience Looking at the new search tool, it provides a direct route to Bing on Chromium Edge. In other words, users no longer need to navigate to bing.com to use the search engine. Furthermore, a new tool called InPrivate NTP has been added to Edge. It allows the browser to remove PII (Personally Identifiable Information) before data is sent to servers. With this tool user identity will not be revealed.
Running the Legacy Browser
Last week, Microsoft explained how business users are able to run both legacy Edge and Chromium Edge side by side. It is worth noting that Edge app will become legacy as it will be replaced by Chromium Edge. Microsoft understands some users may still want the legacy Edge experience.
