Small businesses can use Spot Platform to develop their online storefront without having to worry about developing applications or websites. Google says the Spot Platform is a “customized and branded experience”. Users can place their store items on Google Pay and customers can use the payment service to buy products. This is essentially a shopping experience within the Google Pay service. Furthermore, retailers can place Spot Codes into their physical stores, which will give customers the ability to scan to pay for goods. “A Spot is a digital front for a business that is created, branded and hosted by them, and powered by Google Pay,” Google explains. “Users can discover a Spot online or at a physical location, and transact with the merchant easily and securely within the Google Pay app. The Google Pay app also surfaces the relevant Spot to the user when they need it, directly on the homescreen. This means that someone’s favourite restaurant Spot might show up around lunchtime, or the cab booking Spot might show up before your morning commute.”
Integrations
Google explains how setting up Spot Platform is easy to set up, requiring just basic JavaScript code. Google’s own Order API can also be leveraged to add real-time delivery tracking on orders. Furthermore, the Messaging API can provide messages at checkout. Opening Spot Platform, Google has teamed with six brands as early adopters. These include eat.fit, goibibo, Oven Story, Make my Trip, RedBus and UrbanClap.
