Now, the organization has confirmed Firefox Preview will support Web Extensions. At first it was unclear if this would be the case. One of the best things about Firefox is its customizability through add-ons, so many users were hoping the preview would get the ability. Mozilla says it will firstly bring recommended extensions from the “Recommend Extensions Program” before adding more. In a blog post, the company says the GeckoView engine that the Preview is supported by is working on the integration. “We’re happy to confirm that GeckoView is currently building support for extensions through the Web Extensions API. This feature will be available in Firefox Preview, we are looking forward to offering a great experience for both mobile users and developers” Mozilla add-ons team member, Philipp Kewisch said. However, the company urges patience as the roll out will be slow: “For the remainder of 2019 and leading into 2020, we are focusing on building support a selection of extensions from our Recommended Extensions program that have proven to be most useful to mobile users”.
