Version 78.0.276.8 is now available and is based on Chromium 78. As you may know, the Canary channel issues daily updates and the Dev channel issues weekly updates. In other words while waiting for this first Beta update, there have been several upgrades sent out on the Dev channel. Some of the improvements from those Dev updates are now coming to the Beta channel. Chromium Edge now has a better dark theme, with a toggle in settings to turn it on or off. Password syncing has also been added. However, some Dev channel features released over the last month are not yet on Beta. For example, last week the company rolled out Collections updates. This is a tool Microsoft introduced last month. Collections helps users organize and share website information to help keep track of data. Microsoft says many users find the internet and overwhelming place and are often cluttered. We expect this update to come to Beta in the next release.
Beta Channel
Microsoft said the beta channel offers a more stable Chromium Edge experience that is closer to production ready. The company says 1 million downloads of Edge in preview have happened so far and says the new beta channel will allow more organizations to check out the browser.
