In the listing, Cupertino is seeking a senior software engineer to “Join us and build the next generation of media apps for Windows.” Furthermore, the job posting adds, “If you love music and you are passionate about writing code and want to work with world-class engineering teams that ship to millions of users, the Media Apps team is the place for you.” This post suggests Apple is looking to make an Apple Music app for Windows. If that does indeed happen, we guess other iTunes-separate apps will appear, like Podcasts and Apple TV.

Interestingly, the listing requests people with Universal Windows Platform (UWP) experience. This implies Cupertino could be interested in expanding its media apps beyond Windows desktops. UWP would allow the company to debut applications on Xbox One and HoloLens. It is worth noting iTunes still lives on even on macOS, but now only serves as a syncing platform for iOS devices. If individual media apps make their way to Windows, it is probable that iTunes will remain available for the same purpose.
